Day 5: Upwind Towards Bermuda
Now that we are out of the Caribbean Sea, the motion of the boat has gotten a lot more gentle on us, and we were finally able to put ourselves on an actual watch schedule.
For now we do 3x four hour watches at night, 2x four hour watches during the day, and 2x two hours that we eat together for “brunch” and dinner."
The weather looks really good at the moment, and we are close-reaching towards Bermuda at a speed of 6-7 knots. In a couple of days, the wind should come around slightly more behind us as we will reach the edge of the Azores high.
We are currently sailing in a zone of “enhanced squallisness” but so far, they really haven’t been that bad.
The nights have become slightly cooler than in the Caribbean Sea, and we now wear sweaters after dark. It is hard to imagine that in a couple of weeks, we will be wearing our foul weather gear!
Today I’ll make some eggs for breakfast, and for the first time since we departed, I’ll indulge myself with a cup of coffee.
And if we feel energized enough, maybe we will start fishing!
