Ryan has departed.

Yesterday around 2PM Lanzarote time, Ryan untied the lines in Marina Rubicon to head out towards the ocean.

To say that emotions ran high is an understatement, as I was trying to wrap my mind around the fact that he'll be spending three weeks at sea alone... all of that from afar.

Thankfully though, Ryan was off to a very smooth start, with gentle winds, flat seas, and 4G signal for the rest of the day as he sailed along the East side of Fuerte Ventura.

We had the time to chat a few times, and even have one last video call before he got out of range.

The conditions in the Atlantic ocean are currently looking fantastic, and one of the first things he asked me was if I could potentially fly earlier than planned.

Indeed, what we are currently seeing in the forecast could allow Ryan to cut the corner North-West of Cape Verde, which would save him quite a bit of mileage and sea time.

Ryan will be updating the offshore blog daily, and I'll be filling in for him when he can't ;)

And if you want a little more than just reading the updates, you can join the Whatsapp group we created for Patrons, where I'll post the daily briefings from our weather router Charlie (who, by the way, is fantastic) and various real-time news.

Cheers from the Polar Seal HQ in Paris!
