Day 12 - Pizza day

Many things make me happy in life, I would dare say most things make me happy but a few things, like a good hug from Sophie or a swim in tropical blue water make me very happy.

A good pizza and burger are also on that list (though please don't ever combine the two… may have tried, all will fail). So today on Polar Seal, as I have made a tradition the last few months, Sunday is pizza night. You can have pizzas any other night as well, but always Sundays… it is God's day after all.

So somehow a bit of wind has stayed with us throughout the day, and this morning, though the winds were a bit lighter I had some good current which allowed the boat the fly while remaining generally flat in the sea (little waves). This afternoon the current seems to have gone but the winds have picked up a bit and my general mood has improved a great deal since this time yesterday.

I'm just over 400NM to go and while I know it's close it is not close enough for me to start getting really excited. I think that might come Tuesday night.

The reality is, it's still a long way and shit can still happen so I really want to be focused. 400 is a long way for someone to come save your ass, 50nm is a long way so until I see the land I think I'll be in the mindset that this is not over and it's still time to be serious.

Otherwise, I'm just choping away at the miles, the sun has been out a bit today which has been nice. I will say though when that sun comes out it gets very hot in the cabin… potentially a positive effect of having such a cloudy sail was that temperatures were generally a lot cooler than when Sophie and I did this same passage two years ago.

I think I'm just rambling with no clear message so I'll stop for the day. Please keep emails coming… Sophie is in Antigua now so she has a million other things to do that email me.. so I'm getting a bit bored ;)
