From the Kieler week 2018

We figured we couldn't be in Kiel during the Kieler week without enjoying the festivities ourselves. That day, a college friend of Ryan who lives an hour away from Kiel took the train to visit us.After a mandatory tour of the boat, the three of us took the ferry from Laboe, the town where we were staying at, to Kiel, where most of the party was going on.The Kieler week is a maritime festival that stretches over an entire week. Tall ships from all over the World make the way to attend, and the city of Kiel turns into a giant party for the occasion. And what a party that was.I filmed a lot that day, and therefore have very few pictures to share, but I had a blast the entire day. Mostly, we walked from the center of town along the docks, and went from food booth to beer booth to the next food or beer booth. I don't recall exactly all we ate, but boy did we indulge! From Argentinian steak to a few rounds of deserts, countless beers (gotta try them all!) and foods in all forms of fried, we sure had enough calories to survive the many kilometers we walked that day.Still, on our way back to Laboe that night, we realized we hadn't covered half of the festival, which had us promise to each other's that we would be back.Kieler week... you were... a killer! :DPS: there were some pretty boats too. Laboe, from the ferry to KielLaboe, view from the ferry to Kiel. The harbour of Laboe, from the ferryLaboe Harbor, view from the ferry to Kiel.Flags on the ferry to KielFrom the deck of the ferry to Kiel.Tall ship, during the Kieler weekAn old ship tacking through the Kiel Fjord.A few tall ships docked for the kieler weekA few tall ships docked for the Kieler week.Fischenbrötchen, a popular german delicacy served at the Kieler week. or?... Fischenbrötchen. Essentially, a raw filet of herring in a bun. A typical German "delicacy" that I didn't dare trying myself at.the Pirate world, another cool spot of the Kieler weekKiel was full of those organized corners, where you could buy food and drinks. Ryan is a princess, and I am a pirate.
