The stages of redoing our hull's epoxy and antifouling

To our big surprise when we hauled out the boat in October last year, our antifouling was chipping off in big flakes of paint. We had just had the antifouling redone a few months before, and couldn't understand why that was. What was clear is that we would have to repaint the hull with new antifouling regardless. We realized what had happened when we started scraping off the chipping paint: hard paint had been applied on top of soft paint. So we found ourselves redoing that paint entirely. We started by scraping off all the old paint. We then sanded the entire bottom of the hull (quite the workout...)We applied 3 layers of epoxy and painted two layers of hard paint on top.Taking care of the entire 12 meters hull of our Beneteau Oceanis 40 took two weeks, a total of 4 people working, about 60 man hours and countless liters of sweat and tears. We're quite satisfied with the result though!Before.... After scraping, day 1After scraping day 2Day 3: Scraped and sanded!Day 4: 1 layer of new epoxy down...Day 5: 2 layers of epoxy and a happy captain!Day 7: 2 new layers of black hard paintLooking amazing!!!
